Winter holidays: Bison Futé predicts “difficult” to “very difficult” traffic this weekend

The traffic forecasting agency is giving its advice on how to avoid traffic jams this winter holiday weekend, particularly when going to or returning from ski resorts.
Another complicated weekend on the roads for this new winter holiday toss and turn , warns Bison futé . Saturday and Sunday, "will be the start of the second week of holidays for zone A and the end of holidays for zone C. This weekend also marks the end of holidays for the Central and Southern zones of the Netherlands," recalls the public body. It is unsurprisingly in the Alps that traffic difficulties will be concentrated, but also in the Paris region, with the end of holidays in zone C.
This Friday, February 28 , the day is classified orange (difficult traffic) in the direction of departures and returns in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, whose axes "should be very congested". As for departures, Bison futé advises avoiding the surroundings of Lyon in the afternoon, as well as the A43 between Lyon and Chambéry between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. As for returns, the A43, the A46 and the A46 should be avoided in the afternoon and early evening. Not to mention the problems to anticipate on the national and departmental roads in the valleys for the last kilometers before the ski resorts .
Saturday, March 1st "will be the busiest day on the roads serving the Alpine resorts," notes Bison futé, which sees red (very difficult traffic) in the direction of departures in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, an area starting its second week of vacation (zone A). The organization advises avoiding the A40, A43 and A48 for a good part of the day. Traffic will be difficult in the region in the direction of returns, but also in Île-de-France to reach Paris. To avoid traffic jams, "reach or cross Île-de-France before 11 a.m.," warns Bison futé.
On Sunday, March 2 , traffic will be fluid in the direction of departures, throughout France. On the way back, however, it will be difficult again in Île-de-France for returns to the capital. "The increase in traffic on the A6 and A10 motorways should cause traffic difficulties on these routes between mid-afternoon and early evening," predicts the public service. Here again, Bison futé advises hitting the road before 11 a.m. in the Île-de-France region.
